چکیده

Article history: Received on: 25/12/2013 Revised on: 08/02/2014 Accepted on: 23/05/2014 Available online: 28/06/2014 The effect of tissue cultured and tissue culture derived Mentha species viz. Mentha piperita(PPR611), Mentha arvensis (SH) and Mentha spicata (SPR 8) on antioxidant potential using lipid peroxidation model was studied. The extracts prepared were analyzed for total phenols and flavonoids. Tissue cultured derived plants were found to have higher content of total phenols and flavonoids. Furthermore, Mentha spicata (SPR 8) was found to possess higher content of total phenols, however, flavonoid content of tissue cultured samples was more compared to tissue culture derived plants in Mentha arvensis (SH) and Mentha spicata (SPR 8).Tissue cultured plants of all the three species were more potent in lipid peroxidation inhibition model. Tissue cultured derived plants were less effective in preventing lipid peroxidation and inhibition potential decreased with development period in all the three species.

P-88: Expression Pattern of Maturation Genes During In Vitro Culture of Alginate Encapsulated Preantral Follicles Derived From Frozen-Thawed Mouse Ovaries

Background: This study was set up to evaluate the effect of ovarian tissue slow freezing on in vitro growth and pattern of maturation genes expression in mouse preantral follicles encapsulated within alginate hydrogel. Materials and Methods: Ovaries of 12-14 days old female NMRI mice were randomly allocated into control and slow freezing groups. In slow freezing group, ovaries were equilibrated...

Reactive oxygen species level, mitochondrial transcription factor A gene expression and succinate dehydrogenase activity in metaphase II oocytes derived from in vitro cultured vitrified mouse ovaries

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of ovarian tissue vitrification and two-step in vitro culture on the metaphase II (MII) oocyte reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) expression and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) activity. After collection of neonatal mouse ovaries, 45 ovaries were vitrified and the others (n = 45) were...

P-219: GDF9, BMP15 and Their Receptors Expression During In Vitro Culture of Mouse Vitrified Ovarian Tissue Derived Preantral Follicles

Background: In vitro culture (IVC) of isolated preantral follicles from cryopreserved ovarian tissue might be an efficient method for enhancing mature oocytes in patients who are exposed to infertility. Materials and Methods: Ovaries of 13-day old NMRI mice were removed and randomly placed into control, needle immersed (NIV) and solid surface vitrification (SSV) groups. For vitrification, ovarie...

Enhanced production of valerenic acids and valepotriates by in vitro cultures of Valeriana officinalis L.

Valerian (Valeriana officinalis L.) is an important medicinal plant that is widely exploited for its roots and rhizomes which contain valepotriates and valerenic acids (with putative pharmacological activities). Thus root proliferation of valerian is very important. The aim of this study was to establish a practical tissue culture method for rapid and large-scale induction of V. officinalis L. ...
